PRAY FOR DAVID & CAROL CAPE as they are invited to the 60th Annual National Prayer Breakfast
The 60th Prayer Breakfast
The 2012 National Prayer Breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, February 2nd at the Hilton Washington International Ballroom in Washington D.C. The President of the United States, Members of Congress and other dignitaries will gather with leaders from across the country and around the world. Men and women will come from all parts of the United States, joining together with their fellow elected officials, business leaders, and visiting dignitaries.
Each year several guest speakers visit the various events connected with the Breakfast. However, the main event, the Thursday morning Breakfast, typically has two guest speakers: the President of the United States who delivers prepared remarks and a specially invited speaker who presents the keynote address.
Nomination Process
Registration for the National Prayer Breakfast is by state quota and by invitation only. To receive an invitation, you must have a completed nomination form in the Seattle office. Nominations are reviewed and forwarded to National Leadership Seminars as appropriate. Invitations will come from the Congressional Co-chairs in Washington, DC.

History
In 1953, members of the Senate and House of Representatives, along with President Dwight D. Eisenhower, established the first Presidential Prayer Breakfast. Today, this breakfast has become an annual event in our nation's life. Since that first session, the whole motive and purpose of the National Prayer Breakfast was not to be a national religious meeting, but rather a time when the Congress met to support, pray, and care for the President, his family and other leaders in our nation who carry great burdens. What started as a simple idea of men and women meeting together for mutual encouragement and fellowship in order to find "the better way" has spread to nearly 200 countries from every continent. This call to spiritual mobilization is essential, not in terms of labels, or in terms of any particular institutions or organizations alone, but truly in terms of what Christ can do in the lives of men and women, in the lives of cities, in the lives of states and in the lives of nations. Every year a Washington State delegation of civic, business and student leaders are invited to attend this event.
